Operation of affiliate schemes - any tips from readers/followers?

I put this out on Twitter yesterday - managing to ignore the lack of engagement on such topics on a Sunday, especially with the sun beaming down! So I got no response.

Here it is again - we are developing an affiliate scheme for dbTwang tieing into our upcoming paid for service and I was looking for advice from anyone who has run such a scheme for an online service or links to such advice?

I used to run a few small things as well with custom scripts, but if I was running anything now, I'd use HasOffers (www.hasoffers.com) which is free and has everything you need on the software side to run an aff program.
