Funding them less so. And since I love the idea of competing with other businesses for a load of cash I am posting about the Bright Ideas Challenge.
What is it? A competition for businesses based in the South East
Be more specific? Early stage or start-up. innovative. Carlow, Kilkenny, South Tipp, Wexford and Waterford
What is the pain? Presentation of your idea and business plan to a panel of judges.
Why? The (deliberately vague) opportunity to:
- Avail of a potential equity investment from 'business angels' up to the value of €50,000,
- Bank of Ireland business loan up to the value of €25,000 (yep - know a lot of startups who are going to be dying to borrow money :-)),
- Business consultancy and incubation space with South East BIC to the value of €25,000
And a title and loads of publicity and some pitching experience. Kudos to Bank of Ireland for sponsoring this and the South East Business & Innovation Centre for spawning it in the first place.
When? Closing date for expressions of interest Friday 5th September, invitations to submit business plans by Friday 3rd October, pitches during Enterprise Week (w/c 13th October)
