Great to say that we will be making a gesture towards having a carbon neutral Creative Camp. I say making a gesture because the absorbing of the carbon will happen over the lifetime of the trees involved.
The facts:
- Being organised with Josephine Hughes @ www.carbonneutralireland.ie
- Being sponsored by Michele @ www.blacknight.ie
- The cost (e300) will fund the planting of 12 native Irish species trees.
- These will absorb an estimated 8.4 tonnes of CO2.
- This is the equivalent of driving over 44,000 km in a 1.6 litre petrol car.
We did an initial estimate based on 100 people driving to the Camp, allowed for energy use on the day for lighting, heating and IT and then rounded up :-)
A couple of other sponsors also lined up - The IIA and Kilkenny County Enterprise Board are both on board. Thank you to all 3 sponsors for your early support - makes it easier to get things in place.
Finally the domain creativecamp.barcamp.ie will be used - we will announce when that goes live.

PS - should say that Ken has more information on the background to the Camp theme and also the location and facilities here www.kenmc.com/2007/12/05/creative-camp-for-kilkenny-and-its-in-a-castle/
