Spent some time yesterday burning old CD's onto iTunes and then subscribing to a couple of Music blogs.
Went to sync my iPod and got the following:
"The iPod Keith's Classic iPod cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (-50)."
So reset and then restored - all to no avail. And then at one of my sync attempts got this
"The wrong volume is in the drive. Please insert volume KEITH's CLA into drive G:."
A Google produced the worrying result that this is not uncommon.

In the meantime I had generated a number of other "unknown errors".
I tried to sync it to the iMac for the first time. Had to install new software and then discovered that the iMac said that it could not read or write to the disc on the iPod.
That is approx 3 hours of today and I know I will not have time during the working week to tackle this.
Hence I have a Brick on my hands - empty and useless :-(

UPDATE - sent my iPod by regular post to CompuB in Limerick today - Monday 25th November (together with a stamped address envelope for it's return). According to CompuB the process of having it replaced should only take a couple of days and hopefully that will be the case. Will post the date of receipt of the replacement here.
UPDATE2 - Received the replacement by post on Monday 3rd December - an excellent turn around. Thanks to the guys in CompuB for that.
Do you want to hack it? Or get a blender?

Classic iPod? So it's under warranty? Get thee to a Apple Store or Authorised Service Provider!
Turnaround at my AASP is 2 days.

hiya MJ
yep - you are right. I did ring a AASP in Limerick (Compub) and they will replace - as soon as I get around to putting it in the post and enclosing a stamped and self addressed envelope!
