When I heard that I was getting the Toyota IQ I was pretty sure about one thing - with a headcount of 4 in the family there was no way it could be the only car. Look at it - tiny. Whatever about the space missing at the front (cunning things done with a small engine) the rear end is missing an entire boot area and some seat space.
Of course that would be marginally easier to see if the two cars were the same way around :-)
But take it from me - it is tiny.
That was my perception. After driving it for a couple of weeks it has changed. Have been thinking about the number of trips I anticipate between now and January when we need 4 seats and luggage - none. As opposed to trips with either me solo or 2 of us in the car - almost all of them.
So my insurance is being suspended and my motor tax refunded. And the IQ will indeed be the only car we use.
If it was slightly bigger we could contemplate it permanently. Or if cars of this class/size were sold together with access to a reasonably priced hire scheme for the times when it just will not do the job.
Who would offer that to us? Toyota? Ford? Anyone?

PS - the image above is actually 3 images skillfully blended. Done using Firefox and a screengrab for those of you technically minded. Awesome.
PPS - I reversed into the space above myself. It is approx 4 metres give or take.
