Finished another 2 day website design/build course yesterday with a great bunch of entrepreneurs. Using Sitekreator as their main tools and with the assistance of others such as Wufoo and Google Calendar they had a bundle of fun building out their sites from scratch. These are still in the early stages of evolution and so maybe missing some of their content at this stage.
www.2ofakindband.com
Denis and Tina have spent 10 years entertaining crowds with their band and the site shows a collection of strong testimonials from happy wedding couples to prove it! He has uploaded 4 full audio files of their work and has used Google Calendar to show their upcoming dates. This site will serve the classic purpose - prospective customers can see the duo, hear their music and check their availability before giving them a call.
www.allpatchedup.com
Alison runs a patchwork, quilting and wool shop in Callan and is used to tourists (mostly American) finding her through referrals from other businesses in the area. The site will put her on the map for people planning their visits to Ireland to bring them close to retailers in this niche sector.
www.callan800.com
Catherine works with Kilkenny County Enterprise Board in the Callan community to support the development of community activities there. This site uses a visually strong template from Sitekreator to highlight the towns 800 year celebrations in 2007.
www.fitzgeraldfleming.com
Sean is a partner in a large regional accountancy practice and wanted to learn and understand the website design process for himself rather that delegating it to others. His site is comprehensive and covers the large number of services that they offer to clients.
www.kilkennyphysioclinic.com
Therese runs a 6 person physio clinic and wanted to have a resource available to explain the large variety of conditions they treat and services that they offer. This kind of detail is difficult to communicate even face to face in their clinic where the emphasis is usually on a specific course of treatment rather than a sales pitch for the clinic.
As with many others working in this kind of training I really enjoy giving these courses. The tools available have made the process of working with the internet so much easier for small to medium businesses and that is how it should be.
