I have big problem getting boots to fit my large muscular calves so I always end up buying ankle boots which are fine but not great with skirts. Is there a brand of long boots I can buy here in Kilkenny that have a little more give in them for my wide calves? Thanks for your help, Una.
Hi Una,
You are not alone on this one - a lot of women have the same problem. I recently put together a guide for buying boots for wide calves on the internet so I have become familiar with the various brands available. Here in Kilkenny we have the Gabor range which cater for the larger calve through the use of a side panel with an elastic insert. This allows for extra stretch and comfort. The Gabor range is available from Kings shoes on Parliament Street.
A second brand to consider is the Emotion range of boots which has an extra calf width - this brand is available from Padmore and Barnes.
Another option is a stretch fabric boot which you pull on – these are great for the wider calve but do take your time when buying your boots as there is nothing more uncomfortable than a pair of boots that cut your blood supple off because they are too tight.
There are also a couple of options on the internet such as Duo Boots. They have a great selection of wide calf fitting boots and also boots for thinner legs - take a look at their site which is www.duoboots.com. I would advise a call into Rossiters shoe repairers on the Butter Slip as they have a heat activated machine installed which can stretch your boots a little for you. Pop into them for more information on this process.
Boots are definitely the answer for wide calves as they are very flattering and will also encourage you to wear skirts more. Hopefully you will get a pair that is stylish and comfortable.

Re Bootfits. Rachael Hillard 01823 357223 from Somerset Trading Standards is helping me deal with my refund request and interest in complaints about this company. This company now trades out of Twinhoe farm BA2 8QY. TELEPHONE 01225832 881 823 Please phone consumer Direct on 08454040506 for support in claiming your money back. You are entitled. and please add your complaint to the one that I sent to paypal by email. I feel that they are endorsing this bad service.

Hello, Nick is also trading under http://www.fittedbootstore.com/ There are 100's of women who have been ripped off by this man. Personally I oredered boots in feb and requested a refund in march. I have emailed, contacted him at home, tried via email and also via the stupid answering service. I have also contacted consumer direct, and bath trading standards. I am going to go for the small claims court. This main is unbeliavable. I cant believe he has been able to rip so many people off, under so many websites for so many years!!!

How much money is this guy making out of us and why is he allowed to continue ripping us off?
I have recently 'purchased' some boots from the 'fittedbootstore.com' and have had absolutely no response from them whatsoever. They were quick enough to take my money however!
My heart sinks to see the hundreds of women who have been ripped off on many many websites. It's disgusting - he should be in jail for this, it's theft!

I have to say I called Nick and I got my money back within about ten days. He *did* call back, albeit a day later. After a couple of days of calls, where he really never was rude, he sent me a cheque in the post for £100. Recorded delivery. It sounds like this is a rare event, but it did happen! Please don't be put off, call!

Hi there
It seems this scumbag has reinvented himself and is now trading under the name of 'Fitted Boot Store' online. Many hundreds of complaints continue across multiple sites, seems when the heat gets turned up he renames his company and proceeds with his trading habbits.
The recommendations I have received are to notify trading standards, Consumer Direct, Channel 4 (he is using Gok's Fashion Fix programme to ligitimise his business and snare customers) and Watchdog. I did read somewhere that Watchdog are interested in doing an expose and that Trading Standards are interested in this cowboys activities.
Also, you may be able to claim your money back through Visa disputes via your bank. Other than that it is the small claims court.
I find it beyond belief that nothing seems to have been done by the authorities and wonder just what he has to do to get stopped.
You may have guessed, but I was a victim of this too and am currently pursuing a refund. Good luck.

I've also been swindled by this man. His phone number was answered by a child when I rang about 10 days ago, and I then managed to speak to "Nick" himself. He said he wasn't the same person who used to operate a company with a similar name (I assume he means "The Boot Fits") and that his was a legit company. Said my boots ("made in Portugal from Italian leather..") should be in the UK by 10/12/09 (I ordered them in early November)and that I should receive them soon after. I don't believe a word and will now try to get my money back. Sadly, I ordered 2 pairs - I wish I'd discovered all the correspondence about this company on the net before I ordered and paid for them.
