I have just spent the entire morning shopping for clothes and came home empty-handed. By the end of it I didn't even know what I was looking at! Can you please give me a few tips for clothes shopping so that I am more successful next time? Thanks, Lauren
Hi Lauren,
This is something a lot of us seem to have trouble with. You leave the house all enthusiastic, hit the shops and then you can't see anything! It always happens when you have money to spend.
I think it's a good idea to have a good rummage through your wardrobe before you go out. Pull out all of the pieces that you never wear because you cannot find anything to go with them. Then make a list of the items you need to complete those outfits.
It's also a good idea to know what the trends of the season are. I would not advise going overboard on this but you can up date your existing wardrobe by purchasing a few of the key items of the season. Some of the most stylish women build their wardrobes around core items
such as classic cut trousers or jeans which will last several seasons and update their look each season with new items such as jewellery accessories, and hosiery.
Define your personal style and try and stick to it as this will make it easier not to make impulse buys which you will probably never wear. Think about building a long term relationship with each item before you buy - especially if it is an expensive item. And don't be afraid
to try different shops and labels which might give you some fresh ideas and inspiration. Finally give yourself time to have a good look around the shops. Happy shopping.
