Dear Martina,
I seem to be stuck in a rut at the moment. I am 46 years and starting to feel a bit frumpy. I want to look fashionable without looking like mutton! Any ideas. Thanks, Rosemary.
Hi Rosemary,
This happens in our life from time to time - it’s easy to get in a style rut and to play it safe. But remember you are not ready for beige just yet, let Madonna be an inspiration to you she’s in her late forties (you probably won’t want the legwarmers and leotard!)
Rumour has it women are at their sexiest past forty! Don’t worry too much about following every trend that’s in. Keep it simple - you can always add shoes, bags and accessories as these are the quickest way to up date your look. Invest in a few hot pieces that will work with your more classical items and keep you looking fashionable and funky. These will help you develop a signature look.
Clever tailoring will help to flatter your shape and camouflage the bits you want to hide and bring attention too the bits you want to show off. I think women of a certain age are more confident with their self-image and happy in their skin, as they know what suits them. Remember experiment with new looks, hairstyles etc as this will help to keep you young and fresh and you will soon start to feel glam and trendy again. Without feeling like mutton!…Best of luck.
